Dr. Frank Djabanor received his undergraduate training at Guy’s Hospital Medical School, University of London, from 1958 to 1963. His postgraduate education and specialist training was also at the Evelina Children’s Hospital (of Guy’s Hospital, London), Hospital for Sick Children, Great Ormond Street, London, and the London School of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, London University – 1968 to 1971.
He was the Head of the Paediatric Division of the 37 Military Hospital, Accra, Ghana, from January 1972 to June 1979. He was appointed Acting Commanding Officer of the 37 Military Hospital, Accra, in June 1979. In June 1980, he personally commanded the annual Admin Inspection Parade of the 37 Military Hospital. In September 1980, with the rank of Lt. Col., at the age of 42 years, he voluntarily retired from active,15 years’ Military Service, as a Regular Officer; to pursue his vision of St. Luke, the ‘‘beloved’’ physician, in private Clinical Practice. In 2008, he was given a Lifetime Achievement Award and Citation, as an eminent paediatrician, by the Medical and Dental Council of Ghana. In 2017, he was given a Citation of Honour by the Paediatric Society of Ghana.
